Archetypical Astrology by Cristina Laird
I have been studying and practicing Astrology for over forty years, though my relationship with this language feels as though it reaches far beyond this lifetime. In the late 1970s, I understood with clarity that astrology was not merely an interest, but my path. That recognition led me to London, where I enrolled at the Astrological Association of Great Britain and encountered what was then the newly founded Centre for Psychological Astrology, created by Liz Greene and Howard Sasportas. From that moment on, my understanding of astrology was forever transformed.
Liz Greene guided me through Olympus and into the deepest layers of the human psyche. Her teaching reshaped both my life and my work in ways I can never fully repay. I studied with her and with Howard Sasportas for four years, alongside an extraordinary circle of teachers and astrologers, among them Richard Idemon, Robert Hand, Nick Campion, and many others, in an environment of rigorous study and deep symbolic inquiry.
Over the years, I have been fortunate to learn from many influential voices, including Stephen Arroyo, Tad Mann, Noel Tyl, Donna Cunningham – who, along with Liz, touched my heart in a particularly profound way —Jeffrey Green, Melanie Reinhart, Darby Costello, James Hillman, Demetra George, and Erin Sullivan. Yet, ultimately, my greatest teachers have always been, and continue to be, my clients, whose lived experiences deepen my understanding far beyond theory.
After moving to Spain, I chose to expand my formation into the fields of Psychotherapy and Psychodrama, a path I followed for the next fourteen years. I trained with Enrique Bergon through the Association of Therapists of Andalusia (ADTA), and later completed four years of training in psychodrama and psychodance with Jaime and Graciela Rojas Bermúdez.
I also explored Gabrielle Roth’s 5Rhythms for several years, a practice deeply resonant for me due to its integration of music, movement, and ritual. In more recent years, my work has been enriched through Family Constellations, guided by Peter Bourquin and Carmen Cortés, and through Systemic Shamanism with Daan van Kampenhout, a body of work I experience as
profoundly healing, expansive, and transformative.
Dance has been a central teacher throughout my life. Through it, I have learned directly about the intimate relationship between body and soul. I danced professionally for many years, and today dance remains one of my most essential resources for maintaining mental and physical balance, as well as a vital space for self-exploration- one in which aspects of myself can emerge that no other
language can express.
My work is dedicated to helping people understand the NOW, with all its immense potential. Astrology offers an unparalleled symbolic language to illuminate the darker, unspoken layers of the soul, allowing us to reconnect with our inner strength and to gradually learn how to meet our destiny, not as resignation, but as conscious participation in life’s unfolding.
